WELCOME!
At Forests and Fiction, I write about books (and other things) that I love
In 2021 I began reading for pleasure again for the first time in a decade. What started as a passive hobby is now a full-fledged passion.
Reading is a wonderful release for me that opens so many worlds and possibilities. Forests and Fiction serves as a place to celebrate this passion alongside the other things that bring joy in my life as well.

June Wrap-Up: Books Read, TBR lists, and What I’m Loving Right Now
I can’t believe that we’re already into the summer. June was the busiest month professionally that I think I’ve ever had, and it wasn’t much better personally. We had kids’ birthday parties, work events, family emergencies, house issues; you name it, we had it going on. With all the chaos that was our lives though,…

Book Review: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
I absolutely LOVED the Shadow and Bone series, and ever since I devoured that trilogy, I’ve wanted to pick up the Six of Crows duology. I was a little worried it wouldn’t live up to my expectations for the Grishaverse, but I needn’t have been concerned, because I might like Six of Crows even more…

Book Review: Yellowface by R.F. Kuang
Yellowface was a fever dream of a book. It was a wild ride that for the entire time I was reading I couldn’t look away from. R.F. Kuang is a well-known master of fantasy, but I had no idea what to expect from her in her first foray into contemporary fiction. I’m now wholly convinced…

Book Review: This Is How You Lose The Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone
This Is How You Lose The Time War was an absolutely gorgeous book. The prose was particularly poetic, the premise incredibly unique, and the story itself was heart-wrenching and beautiful. It was an incredibly quick read, coming in at under 200 pages, but it punched above its weight in the impact it brought. This book,…

Book Review: Shadow Princess (Zodiac Academy 4) by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti
I’ve ranted about The Zodiac Academy too many times to count, and I’ve only just made it to book four. It’s such an addictive series with a lot of angst, drama, and spice, and Shadow Princess was certainly no exception. I found the pacing in this fourth instalment to be a little slower, but no…
