WELCOME!
At Forests and Fiction, I write about books (and other things) that I love
In 2021 I began reading for pleasure again for the first time in a decade. What started as a passive hobby is now a full-fledged passion.
Reading is a wonderful release for me that opens so many worlds and possibilities. Forests and Fiction serves as a place to celebrate this passion alongside the other things that bring joy in my life as well.

Book Review: Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
I’ve come to the Shadow and Bone series very late in comparison to most of the world. Bardugo’s Alex Stern adult fantasy series (see Ninth House and Hell Bent) is what first made me a fan of her work, but as Shadow and Bone is currently an incredibly popular Netflix show, I’ve been seeing promotion…

Book Review: Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree
Legends and Lattes was one of the most unique fantasy novels I’ve read in some time. Book Review: These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan
I was hesitant about buying These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan, despite the amazing things I’d heard. Book Review: The Dragon Republic by R.F. Kuang
The Poppy Wars trilogy is one of the darkest, most intense fantasy series that I’m currently reading. The content is incredibly heavy and there are moments where it feels unrelentingly bleak, but as is the case in everything I’ve read by R.F. Kuang, the themes and connections of real historical significance are important, only seeming…

March Wrap-Up: Books Read, TBR lists, and What I’m Loving Right Now
Even though we’re now headed into April, most of March felt like the dead of winter here on the Canadian east coast. We had several snow storms, and every time it felt like spring might be peeking around the corner, we were battered with more terrible weather. Each year, I start to get particularly stir-crazy…

6 Completed Fantasy Series That You Can Binge Right Now
I’ll be the first to admit that there’s no better feeling than driving to the bookstore on release day to get your hands on a brand-new book in a series you’re part-way through. I get SO excited to pick up a new installment, but then simultaneously dread coming to the end of the book, knowing…
